The Troya's way toward World Championships
The Trojan course has its origin in woodenraft´s course, which has been used since the fiftieth of the last century. In the seventieth of the 20th century the course should has been filled up, but from the impulse of Jaroslav Pollert the origin course started to change to the slalom course, which was being built for almost 10 years. The watermen could use the course for the first time in the autumn of the year 1980. First national race passed in the 1981 and first international race passed a year after, so in 1982. The course served and still serves as a main training course for representantives, but also with its rear and various grades of dificulties belongs to the main resort for preparing youth, students, also for rafting, rodeo…
The first international race was set up in 1982 with the title „Trojan Horse Prize“, and at this moment began the tradition of this race, which has been arranged every year either as a world cup or as an international race. In Prague there was so far six parts of worlds´cup till now, in years 1992, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004.
The historical first Academic World Championship held also in Prague in the 1994. The great merit on rise of this type of the race had Mr. Květoslav Jech.
In 1998, after succesful arrangement of several WC, the representatives decided to candidate for organization of 2002 World Championship here in Prague. They didn´t succed, France won. For the second time Troya applied for having World Championship for the year 2006. The meeting of ICF was in Warsaw and 20.11.2000 was decided that the World Championship for 2006 will perform in the Czech republic, in Troy.
The rehearsal for World Championship passed in Troy at the last weekend in July 2005. The international race „Trojan Horse Prize“ was arrange as a Pre-world Championship.
