In two weeks, Prague will welcome the biggest canoe slalom stars. Prskavec in a canoe and kayak duel
There are only two weeks left until the start of the ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup in Prague-Troja (8-11 June 2023). For the nineteenth time in the Czech history, sports fans will have the opportunity to meet their sports idols, Olympic champions and world champions, such as Czech superstar Jiří Prskavec, Lukáš Rohan, Vít Přindiš and Tereza Fišerová. Young and older alike will have an interesting accompanying program prepared, which starts already on Sunday, 4 June, with the Paddleride with 100 years of Czech Radio celebrations. TICKETS
The organising team, led by two-time Olympic medalist Jiří Rohan, invites all sports fans and families to encourage not only the Czech representatives in the fight for medals and valuable points for Olympic qualification.
The entire series of the World Cup will not start in Troja this year, but the competitors will first go to the Eiskanal in Augsburg, Germany. A week later, they will compete for valuable points at home in Troja. The main highlight of the year awaits them at the World Championships in London in September, and they will compete for European medals at the European Games in Krakow at the end of June. According to Jiří Rohan, director of the organising committee in Prague-Troja, the paddlers will have to complete a busy season, where the World Cup in Troja will also be one of the highlights for some competitors.
"We go to competitions all over the world with our team, but it is amazing that not only domestic competitors often tell us that experiencing Troja is simply unforgettable. It's not that this course is somehow special. But for that we can thank the great atmosphere, the hard-working team and especially the loyal and really noisy fans around the water," explains Jiří Rohan and invites the general public to come once again to help create a unique event. This year's event will be held in the name of the celebration of the 110th anniversary of the founding of the Czech Canoeists Association, as well as the celebration of 100 years of the Czech Radio, which took under its auspices the popular Paddleride on Sunday 4 June.
The organisation of the international event would not be possible without the support of strong and permanent partners. The general partner of the event is the ČEZ Group, the main partner is the financial group UNIQA, the event is financially supported by the National Sports Agency and the Capital city of Prague. The organising committee thanks all sponsors: "The organisation of an international event at the highest level, such as the World Cup, would not be possible without the constant support of major partners, but a big thank you goes to all sponsors, because they enable the realization of the entire event and the creation of great conditions not only for competitors, but also for all visitors and participants of the event. A lot of work is always done by our volunteers, whom we value very much, and their work is irreplaceable."
The audience will be guided through the race by a popular pair of Czech presenters and former paddlers - Daniel Stach and Miroslav Lenc. There will be a fan zone with partner stands and refreshments, activities for children, autograph signing and other rich program. Medal ceremonies, where canoeist Eva Říhová sings the national anthem to the winners, are also a great rarity.
Prskavec and Fišerová at the start from Thursday to Saturday
Jiří Prskavec defends the overall first place in the series this year in the category of men kayakers, and Tereza Fišerová among the women canoeists. Thanks to the changes to this year's program, which starts on Thursday at 14:00 with the kayakers' qualifications, spectators can see the Olympic champion and, most recently, the canoeist Jiří Prskavac already on Thursday and Friday afternoons. Tereza Fišerová will also present herself in both disciplines. In case of a favorable qualification, fans can expect them in Saturday's semifinals and finals of the C1 men and women category.
