K1M looked like the Czech National Championships
First four places of the K1M were dominated by Czech kayakers. Ondrej Tunka tasted the final run as the first one from the Czech group of four.
He kept the first place for most of the final competition. When Vavrinec Hradilek was in the course he kept the pace with Tonka`s split times but finished 0,16 seconds behind. That only endorsed the perfect mastering of the middle part by Ondrej Tunka. German Hannes Aigner had troubles in the beginning of the course and finished at last final position. Two Czechs were in the lead, two other together with Michal Smolen from USA at start. The middle part was fatal for him and followed by 2 second penalization he finished at seventh place.
Jiri Prskavec, current World Champion and bronze medalist from Rio flew through the gates with the fastest split times and pushed even harder after two second penalization at gate 9. He made it at first place by a narrow margin of 0,01s. The Czech would gain first three places, that was for sure. Vit Prindis could only move one of his national colleagues from the podium positions. That did not happen, he finished fourth. „It is amazing. I am especially happy that th efour of us made it to the top positions. I am quite lucky with tenth of second this year. We performed similar runs with Ondrej but I got more lucky. The crowd who pushed us so much must be satisfied“, said Prskavec after the Czech triumph.
